screen capture crash

Postby xerces8 » 26 Mar 2015 22:52

With VLC 2.2.0 on Win8.1 64 bit I tried to capture the screen (MRL: screen:// ) at 60 fps and encode it to H.264+MP3(MP4).
Right at start of encoding it crashes.
On next start it uploaded the crash report.

Are there any known problems with screen capture?
Need any more tests from my side?

Regards,
David

I am seeing the same problem with both 32 bit and 64 bit. Hopefully this will be addressed in the next release.

When trying to start a screen capture from the command line, the application throws an exception and closes. The issue seems to have started after release 2.1.5, screen recording was working in releases before that. I am using WMV2, but have tried several other transcode strings including H.264. They all fail. I can't find one that works. Debugging output is minimal and doesn't really indicate what's happening.

I tried v2.2.0 on another PC running Win7 64 bit (VLC is 32bit) and it crashes there too.

This happens to me as well.

I had absolutely no problems when I have my Intel HD 4000 graphics device enabled.

I installed a MSI GTX 960 2GD5 went to record some gaming, same thing happens as OP and the rest of the members have explained.

VLC 2.1.4 & 2.1.5, 2.2.0 x64 & 32bit.
Windows 7 x64
Nvidia driver 347.88 Latest as of posting.

Sorry to say but I am glad I am not the only fellow here with this problem.
Maybe some how we can narrow it down, but I seen it work on intel graphics but not on nvidia, so the problem seems to be that its a nvidia driver vs vlc problem?

On the two PCs I tried, one has an nVidia GT5xx gfx, while the other Radeon HD 6470M.

Well that zeros out that scenario.
Any developers would like to chime out on this would be awesome.

I'm also seeing the exact same problem. Think it worked for me before in an older version though?
