Audio on video files keeps cutting for 1 second.

Postby agentmi6 » 18 Mar 2015 12:08

This problem started when i updated to 2.1.5 version, then i tried going back to 2.1.3, 2.1.2 and im having the same problem :(
I played the same files that were perfect before this problem(avi, mp4, mkv files) and they were ok.

Im using windows 7 ultimate, with turned off updates(in the past it was messing with my antivirus, and other applications), no other video players or video codecs installed.

I as well. I have win7 [home premium]-64bit-SP1 - running a nvidia gt620 (I am updating windows and everything else is in normal order)
for the past couple of months I have seen the same thing with 2.1.5 Rincewind. where the audio will start randomly cutting out every couple of second for a second, normally happens about 40% of the way into a vid, but occasionally it at other points as well.
Very annoying, the only way to fix it is to restart the media. Then sometimes it may start again, and sometimes it doesnt. I have noticed it mainly affects .mkv files. But it happens so randomly that I haven't noted whether it is happening with other formats.
Also, it doesnt seem to matter what size of the file.
i am wanting to avoid installing a previous version if at all possible.
Any suggestions..... anyone?

Have you tried the latest version 2.2.0? For some reason it does not show up in Check for Updates within VLC, but if you go to videolan.org, the download button will download 2.2.0 for you. Giving this release a try might help.
If we can simulate real life so accurately, then isn't our reality maybe just one great big simulation as well?

its happening to me too.

i recently upddated my version from the vlc-2.0.8 to the 2.1.5 because i always had an issue with trueHD audio chanel, the issue was some kind of pitching on the chanel for the music, and didn't affect the voice chanel, then i updated to 2.2.0 and the issue dissapear finaly after so many trie i could enjoy my good mkv.....but, and there is a but, now it seem any mkv will have a blank of 1 second just like if someone pushed the MUTE button around 14 second in the file, the same thing happened with the 2.1.5 but around 9 sec and only for audio file.

it now seem to affect any file that get play in VLC, and they were good on 2.0.8, nothing is using the CPU, nothing running in the background, glad to see i am not the only one.

i just reinstall 2.0.8 and fix everything, i have the bad pitch with the trueHD audio again but thats a good temporary fix, since it take less than 10 second to reinstall the 2.2.0 you can do that until someone fix the issue

nope now i got the problem in the 2.0.8 too, but its different it skip a second around 0:08 everytime i start an audio file, if dont start it back but rewind to the start it play ok, if i start it again it does the skip, this is really weird, i will try unninstall vlc completely and retry 2.0.8

ok i got it
maybe its link to the fact that vlc 2.2.0 isn't show when you press update and you only get the 2.1.5.

even by going back to 2.0.8 the 2.2.0 was still install that was the reason why the skipping was still happenning (i guess) by removing completely 2.2.0 and keeping 2.0.8 everything is back to normal, for audio fil or video file ( except the true audio HD like i said before but its another story)

Clear the preferences, completely deinstall VLC, and then install 2.2.0 . VLC occasionally acts weird when preferences aren't cleared between updates. If you did opt to clear prefs from the installer though, then that isn't the problem.

Hi There,

I am experiencing the EXACT same issue and it's driving me INSANE! I've tried both x32 and x64 of 2.2.0 and the issue occurs no matter what I watch.
The video will continue but the sound will cut out for just one - two seconds.
I've uninstalled and re-installed both versions multiple times.
Could this PLEASE be looked as an urgency????

Thanks!

What is your CPU?
Core i5 2500k. Not overclocked. I downgraded to 2.1.5 x32 and the issue is still continuing.
Very frustrating!
