HTTP stream doesn't auto play

I have .vlc files which load different HTTP streams. With the previous versions of VLC, I would double-click them and VLC would open and the stream would play.

Now with 2.2.0, VLC opens but the stream is paused. The play/pause button says that it is playing, but the timer stays at 0:00. I have to hit the 'next' button to actually start the stream.

When I updated VLC, my preferences were retained, yet VLC behaved as is they had been reset. To fix this, I reset VLC to defaults. So this behavior is occurring with default preferences.
