Auto Updating Video Slideshow

Postby dwalthers » 28 Feb 2015 01:17

Can I use VLC to create a video slideshow of videos in a folder that will have short videos added to it during an event. Each video is about 35 seconds in length. I need a way for VLC to play the videos in a continuous loop adding new videos to the folder throughout the event. The video slideshow may need to run for hours with dozens of videos. Is there a simple way to accomplish this? This is on a windows 8.1 PC using an i5 processor and 16GB of RAM. Thanks for any help with this!

there is a repeat button in vlc. its features are repeat for a single item and repeat all items. i don't know if it will allow you to actively add new items. you will need to test this. use the playlist to help you test. you have docked and undocked playlist. in theory, what you are asking for should be possible. but there may be a bug preventing you from doing so. :-)

When running VLC with the repeat function is does not recognize that new content has been added to the folder thus it does not play the new videos as they are added. There needs to be a way to refresh VLC so it sees the new content then run the entire loop and refresh again, etc.. etc..
