Folder not released when file unlocked

I manipulate iTunes folders using File Explorer in Windows 7. Given: folder Artist 1 with Song A and Folder Artist 2 with Song B. If I'm playing Song A and then double-click Song B to start it instead, I can't delete Folder A even though Song A has been unlocked - i get the message that it is in use by another program. Doing the same thing with Winamp does not give this error. Fixing this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
