Skins and Streams? [newbie]

hello,
i already tried to use the winamp5-skin for vlc, and read the documentation, but i still did not get it work.
i downloaded the zip-file and put the files in the skins-folder. but when i choose this skin in vlc, just the normal "new" skin is loaded.
what am i doing wrong?
the other question is, if i can start all streams with vlc. real, quicktime, wmp, winamp...

hm, i tried it again.
i changed the "last used skin" in options/interface/general/skins to winamp5.vlt
but when i restart vlc, there is the default.vlt again. something seems to be strange^^
why does vlc not like my skin?
