deinterlace before scaling down

how do i deinterlace before scaling down transcode in vlc i have deinterlaced ticked before encoding in the gui
streams look a blur a times any ideas

these settings :sout=#transcode{vcodec=h264,venc=x264{me=umh,subme=7,8x8dct=1},scale=Auto,width=1280,height=720,acodec=mpga,ab=192,channels=2,samplerate=48000}:http{mux=ts,dst=:1234/} :sout-keep
keyint is also at 50
