Playback: always showing part of the video, resizing needed

Postby wul62 » 28 Dec 2014 16:01

I have never, never been able to solve this.

When launching just VLC the (black) playback VLC is a small window - perfect
When double clicking a .mp4 file - only a part of the video is displayed, somewhere halfway of my screen.
I then need to move the window and F11 select full screen and then resize it to a smaller window, which is taking -say- 1/4 or 1/3 of the screen.
Have deleted
vlcrc
ml.xspf
vlc-qt-interface.ini
already a few times, but that does not help.

Any solutions??

thanks

Hi, Have you tried this?: Tools-Preferences-Interface (show simple), uncheck "Resize interface to video size"; then..Tools-Preferences-(show all), scroll down to video, set video size to desired start size. the default setting is -1. Try 600x480 to start.

Thanks for your comments.
I did the :
- uncheck "Resize interface to video size"

the 2nd thing ("then..Tools-Preferences-(show all),..." I could not find that entry, but instead I untagged
Preferences->All->Video "Video Auto Scaling"
a little bit at the bottom.

I tried launching a few .mp4 files and the playback window remained the same (last window size).

Hopefully this is the solution... crossing my fingers.

Thanks again for the hint as to where to look!
