Encoding a movie in multiple files

Postby grasshopper22 » 08 Dec 2014 18:50

Hey forgive me if this has been covered, I'm sure it has at some point but I've done some googling and haven't found a clear answer.

When I use mkv to backup a movie sometimes the movies is not in one m2ts file but in several. Is there a way to combine these in VLC into one file to encode as a compressed mp4?

Do I have to use a third party software to do it and if so what program should I use and how do I know what order the files go in? In the case of Grand Budapest Hotel the movie is broken into 200 .m2ts files.

VLC is not video editor. You better use some dedicated application. Try Avidemux, tsDemux.

Is there a program that can combine the files without having to put them in a video editor? I use adobe premiere pro. Would I have to import all the clips and then arrange them and export into a large file and then compress?
