Can't get all the You Tube vidéos with VLC

Hello,

I wonder why I can't watch video with all registered persons on You Tube.

I copy the URL link and simply paste it in VLC, for better image quality of course.

This one, for instance, is good : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xa_HoQ-1LE0 "Keith Richards - About George Harrison (and his 'thin' guitar sound) " by MrRobin14669

This is the message shown when it refuses it :

" Votre média d'entrée ne peut être ouvert:
VLC ne peut pas ouvrir « http://r6---sn-upoxu-25gz.googlevideo.c ... 7D9AA134C2 ». Vérifiez les messages pour plus de détails."

the video is for this example: "The Strokes - Hard to Explain (Subs Español) " by rlzg.

No idea I see presently.....

Well, I've checked some other same posts elsewhere in forums and no real explanation!

I've uninstalled, re installed VLC, not better.

Checked my other PC, the same problem! With no identified reason, some You Tube videos are refused and some others play right in there!

The answer is here:

Search for C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\lua\playlist\ on Windows and find the file youtube.luac,

And so, you have to replace the script of youtube.luac by this one at this link:

http://git.videolan.org/?p=vlc.git;a=bl ... ua;hb=HEAD

To do so:

open the file "youtube.luac", ctrl + A , delete it and copy-paste all the script displayed in http://git.videolan.org/?p=vlc.git;a=bl ... ua;hb=HEAD, register it.

And that's it!

I wrote the reply below because it worked for awhile but no longer. For some reason, I am getting the same error message again now on all the newly listed youtube files. Why does a new file usually work and then stop working with "VLC is unable to open the MRL" even though it already opened it successfully before?
I have also tried reinstalling vlc, resetting pref , disabling avast firewall. I don't know what is left to try. can anyone help?


omg, it seems to be working but had to tweak your instructions a bit.
file youtube.luac needed to be opened with program and wordpad worked for that.
ctrl a ..will select all the script, theres no delete, but new script can be pasted over the highlighted text
script part of page at link is copied from where it starts below instructions.
then saved it, but had to increase permissions for me to do that,
then for some reason file name changed to youtube, so had to change to youtube.luac
don't know what 'register' means but it didn't seem to affect me
then had to save all my youtube videos over again as old ones still didn't work
now seems to be working..cross fingers. and thanks

Try again to copy/paste the script shown above, then you'll maybe notice a improvement.

I just did it one minute ago and it works, cause like you, after a while, it didn't work with some new posted vid on Yt...
