I don't have a 64-bits Windows installation; I cannot try.

And VLC cannot "crash Windows". If Windows crashes while using VLC, you have either a device driver or a hardware problem.
In fact it does not crash when you move or delete ntdll.dll in System32 and SysWow64.
Windows Crash when you restart the PC.

I never suggested that you should move or delete ntdll.dll. Of course, Windows will not longer work if you do such a stupid thing.

Yesterday I clicked on file associations Button and VLC crashed. It happens several times - I was trying it a few times. After that I deinstalled 2.15 and re-installed 2.13 - It worked. Then I updated to 2.14 - It worked - after the update to 2.15 I had my crash again. So I switched back to 2.14 and wonder what the reason for that crash would be.

Hello all, welcome (this is my first post on this forum)

I have a CRASH ON EXIT (end of file or "q" / "esc") when I play few video files at once eg.:
vlc.exe file1.mp4 file2.mp4
When I play one file - there is no crash (clean exit, everything OK).

Completely uninstall VLC 2.1.5 and download and install VLC 2.1.4, and that should fix it!

I am support for an intermediate school that uses VLC with an AVN 200 encoder to do a live broadcast. I am running a 32 bit Windows 7 on the computer I am using for the VLC stream. I am unable to find a solution or workaround for 2.1.5 runtime error and the crash. It is extremely disruptive to our broadcast as we do it live. I saw that version 2.1.4 does not have this issue, but that won't work as it is only 64 bit. So I am looking for some help.

Thanks!!

VLC Media Player - Solution for Crash

Postby DedSec » 04 Oct 2014 15:04

Guys i had the same problem. But know i am using another installer and it doesn't crash anymore.

I downloaded my previous VLC from here:
http://www.chip.de/downloads/VLC-player ... 13913.html

And the new one from here:
http://download.videolan.org/pub/videol ... -win64.exe

This is the "real" installer from VLC Media Player. I uninstalled the previous one with the new installer and installed VLC Media Player again, this time with the new installer. And look, no crash anymore. :D

DedSec, the bugs are present when using the "real" installer too. Goodness, it has been forever since VLC had any updates.

Well i had problems on 32 and 64 bit. open up and would just freeze. could move seeker but nothing happens.

I tried the latest 3.0.0 nightly build and there are no issues at all. I got the 7z one cuz avast said the exe was a virus so whatever.
