Viewing Wecam Stream, Small window, bad resolution

Postby bignose2 » 22 Aug 2014 09:06

HI,

I use VLC as a viewer for my webcams so on WIndows 8.1 (or previous 8.0 & same on Windows 7) I can do my normal work & have 1, 2 or more small windows open at the side.

On certain feeds from ONLY some Webcam's I get pixelated images when reducing the size of the window.

I have other feeds from different cameras and they are fine, can go to 2"x2.5" and of course not quite so clear but no pixelation.

It is a bit odd, not really blotchy large pixels but any edges, say a door frame or post, are quite jagged.

I have 3 of the same Huacam 712 HD webcams that when the Windows, window is quite large, approx 7" x 4" or bigger, the image is Pin Sharpe, fine edges to an image, real HD quality, so the feed & source is really high quality.

Not sure if anything to do with the rtsp feeds.
"C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" rtsp://user:password@192.168.2.91:554/0

It does have a higher aspect ratio but VLC seems to cope with that, it is not distorted, I have fiddled with the setting in VLC for this.

I have some loftec cam's, low'ish resolution but an apexis cameras that is quite high res and these can be made very small. and just everything is smooth edged.

On the apexis & is fine:-
"C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" http://user:password@192.168.2.94:80/videostream.cgi

Any idea's
Thanks I/A
