Microsoft Smooth Streaming file immediate crash VLC 2.1.3

Hi,

open any of these URLs:

(replace xx with the obvious two letters...)

It immediately crashes VLC 2.1.3. I cannot share any crashdump, as there is no useful crashdump generated during the crash (I see only a 3 byte "large" crashdump file...). Do I need to manually enable crashdump generation in VLC somewhere?

For your information this video can be started for playback:

I am willing to provide crashdump if it helps solving this problem and if somebody tells me how can I enforce a complete one instead of this 3-byte one.

If anybody gives me a clue why the crashlog is so empty.. all I found on the terribly (un)mantained wiki documentation page, that crashlog is generated automatically, filled with lot of details. Mine is 3 bytes, and does not seem to contain anything.

I'm quite sure that VLC crashes while parsing the manifest file. So i'm thinking that maybe the manifest format is unsupported.

It seems that the smooth streaming 'plugin' is completely broken. I would be glad if someone would write trac report -- because it seems that no devs hangs in these forums...

There is hope there will be an improved Smooth streaming support in VLC in the foreseable future:

https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/11377

the crash has been fixed in the nightly build 20140504, the videos can be played "quasi-successfully"

Now the new issue is that the videos are barely watchable, there are serious continual jumps in the content.

I really hope it will be fixed, trac case is opened, and it seems a developer has already started finding a solution (hopefully):
