Hi!
Ok so searching around before posting, I've found several people with the MRL error problem.
I've never had any problems with VLC.
Until I upgraded to Windows 8.1. I was running 8 fine...now it won't open videos that are on another computer in the network.
Other players like the default windows media player, can play them fine, so I'm sure it's not a firewall or corrupted videos.
It happens on both 32 and 64 bit versions of VLC.
I was getting the MLR error at first. Now I went into Properties for VLC and set it to run as administrator, and now I get something different:
File reading failed:
VLC could not open the file "Z:\xxxx.mov" (Bad file descriptor).
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'file:///Z:/xxxx.mov'. Check the log for details.
It says Z: because I mapped Z to an external hard drive hooked up to another computer in my network. Everything is wired, there's no wireless to deal with.
And this was working perfectly before I updated to 8.1.
Any ideas?
