2.1.2 Sound problems

Postby NerdCoreJm » 13 Dec 2013 13:08

I've recently updated to 2.1.2 and as I was trying to watch an .mkv file the sound was really off, only half can be heard, the background music and ambient can be heard but the voices cannot. I tried using different files to see any difference .mp4 for example, works perfectly fine. I also tried using other .mkv files and the problem arises once more. Any help?

(It's really to describe the kind of sound you get.. but basically there's problems with the sound)

Go to preferences, advanced, audio, directsound and force the number of channels to 2.

I had a stuttering problem and rolled back a couple versions because of it, and the fact that the audio device output type selection is now gone because I needed that.

Playing 5.1 sounds from a video, it gave a constant "main warning: timing screwed" message and something about the sound playing too fast. It did not do that with the audio output set to stereo.

Why do you need that?

I already explained it here: https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.ph ... 13#p393413
