VLC 2.1.0 and Equalizer
For some reason everytime I close and reopen VLC (64bit) equalizer has went off (tried write changes to config w/o it helping)) so music files will have distortion until I enable equalizer.

yes same here, the 64bit doesn't matter, i'm on 32bit; same error as you. i just installed the new 2.1.0 and it will show my personal preset equalizer settings like 2.0.8 in the advanced menu, but when i click the icon from the main window for equalizer, no preset shows, it's just flat. i can verify that the equalizer is not actually using my desired preset even though it was showing up in the advanced menu and that it is in fact using the 'flat' preset that appears when clicking the equalizer icon based on tests. so just because settings are saved in the settings menu doesn't mean they are actually in use, which is EXTREMELY frustrating, imagine which other custom settings like graphics aren't in affect like i set them to!
MY FIX: resintall the old 2.0.8 from this site and it fixed for me, now it shows the correct gains per my custom equalizer preset upon loading (in both advanced menu and after clicking the icon), and it clearly uses my settings now. ALSO, i noticed that the 'subtitles' context menu during a right click on the main window doesn't appear in the new version, which i used heavily to switch between languages before, why would that be removed?! And the old one plays video smoother than the new version probably because it actually uses my settings for graphics versus the new one where you adjust settings, it shows when you restart in the advanced menu, like it saved, but in fact your settings aren't in affect. Weird! But sticking with the old version does the trick.
