connect vlc output to secondary VGA port

Postby john_q61 » 28 Oct 2013 21:22

My company has a proprietary hardware box much like an iMAC (a motherboard, CPU and a screen built within the same hardware box). The hardware box runs windows 7. It also comes with an inbuilt camera (just like iSight) and an extra VGA output port which is part of the motherboard and which by default is not connected. I want to connect the VGA port of the box to another monitor and run VLC in the background and watch the live output of the camera on the second monitor. All this while the hardware box is running another GUI based program which is visible on the main screen.

Can this be done using VLC? If so what would be command line parameters? Otherwise can this be done with any other software? Appreciate any pointers.
