Is VLC a 32-bit or 64-bit structure?

Is VLC 32-bit, or 64-bit software? I am wondering if it is really beneficial to move to a 64-bit system to take advantage of the larger RAM?

There are 2 versions of VLC. One 32 and one 64bits.

VLC 32bits should be enough for most usecases.
