Monkey APE files not working in VLC 2.x

Hi everybody, i still rely on version 1.1.11 to be able to play .APE files. Tried 2.0.6/8/9 to no avail... My box is a Windows XP SP3.
All other formats seems to work fine. In the "whatsnew" text of the 2.0.8 was mentioned this very codec had been fixed. Any light?!??

Vlc 2.0.7 plays APE files just fine.
