Issue with Recording stream with VLC

Postby vlcmang » 23 Jul 2013 03:37

I have successfully recorded a stream from twitch.tv with VLC but one of the players I watch is on late at night. I started his stream, started recording it and when I got up in the morning the VLC player had quit and the relatively large mp4 file seems to be corrupted.

I tried it again for when I left for work, this time the file got a lot larger because I assume it recorded for longer but VLC had quit and the file is reacting the same way. When you double click on it, it shows 0 as the length of the video.

Is there a good way to try and repair the files? Second thing is, is it normal that videos that go on for many hours get corrupted when trying to record them with VLC?

I didn't mention but I have Windows 7 64 bit pro. It finally crashed while I was watching it, I recorded over an hour of stream, stopped it and the video worked fine. I then started recording again and within 20 minutes it crashed and the small video had the same issue as the large ones.
