View & Record ustream with VLC

When I open and view a Live Ustream with Firefox, I can click the Link icon and copy the URL with the Ustream channel and then I open VLC/Media/Open Network Stream and paste the link; then click Play.

VLC will momentarily populate the URL at the top of the screen and the play and record buttons will flash but nothing else happens.

Am I missing some setup option. The video is correctly being displayed in the Firefox window and the Ustream is "Live"

For example, here is the URL that shows, and this is what I am pasting into the "Open Network Stream" in VLC ----- http://www.ustream.tv/channel/4424524

This has got to be easy, but I'm at a loss.

Unfortunately it looks like VLC is not able to parse Ustream videos.

Really? I thought I read that it could.

Does anyone know of an application that can save Ustream live streams, if not VLC?
