how to for a newbie

Postby esmo » 09 Sep 2005 14:44

I installed the program but can't figure out how to use it. I tried a disc recorded on my Toshiba DVD, and also a commercially recorded audio CD. In each case nothing happens when I click on play. What am I missing? Thanks

change default device name

Postby esmo » 11 Sep 2005 23:07

I guess I got a faulty install because I tried that first thing and it didn't work, but after reinstall it does run. One problem is that it defaults to D: as the device name. How do I change this to H: Thanks

The next version of VLC will default to the first cd drive you have.
So if your first cd drive happens to be H: it'll be good for you.

Any idea when the next version will be available, and is it possible to be notified of upgrades? esmo

Subscribe to videolan-announce@videolan.org (send a mail to ecartis@videolan.org with subject "subscribe videolan-announce").

0.8.4 or maybe 0.8.5 should be out within a month or two.

change the default drives here:
Settings -> Preferences -> Input / Codec -> Advanced
on the right is the "Default Devices" catagory.

That worked just fine. The default is now what I want it to be.
