unwanted reaction to channel up/down buttons on remotes

Postby cybmole » 27 Apr 2013 14:52

testing on 2 pcs with 2 remotes
1 ) an official MCE remote,
2) a cyberlink remote

VLc player reacts to a press of channel up / channel down button as if the next/previous media buttons have been pressed.

this seems undocumented it is not in hotkeys list and apparently is not configurable. it seems an arbitrary interpretation of "change channel" when a single media file is being played. I woudl expect those buttons to default to no-effect in that circumstance

I have tested with my remote keypress re-mapping software disabled, so no other software is in the loop - just windows, VLC & the remote hardware.

I would like to have my channel buttons programed for something more useful, rather than have them duplicate what my prev/next buttons already do.
e.g. if I program them for send say j & K for audio delay tweaks via the intelliremote software, I see that the j / k is sent & received - I.e. I see the audio delay setting flash up, but then my media file immediately goes back to start ( assuming that i am only playing one file, not a playlist)

vlc version 2.05 in windows 7 ( if that is relevant)

I do not know what keycodes the remotes send but as said earlier, I get same behaviour from 2 different makes of remote running through 2 different IR receivers.

I can find no mention of any of this in VLC documentation

This is a correct observation, I think.

Except editing the code, no.
