VLC Stopping playbar (yellow loading? bar) pic incl.

Postby ROTN » 16 Apr 2013 13:57

I seem to have this really annoying problem, where the video stops playing (with a stuttering gated sound) and resumes only after this yellow bar goes across the seek bar.

Image

It makes it really hard to watch any video on the software.

I've used .avi and .mkv files and they stop playback a lot. At this stage, .mp4 is working mostly fine.

Any insight as to why this might happen, or how to fix it?

And it seems that the times are highlight/selected.

This is the "buffering bar" this means that vlc decoded and played the video faster than it could actually read it, so it will buffer some time then resume playback. This could happen with remote files on a slow network or big files on a slow support like USB1.1-.
Of course you can try to increase the caching options (file-caching or network-caching) in the preferences or put this files on your computer hard drive.
If it is the case you should open Tools->Messages set verbosity to 2 then start playback and copy the logs here or the pastebin like of your choice.
