.MKV files rewinds back to the beginning?

Postby Ghost.13 » 26 Mar 2013 18:22

Good day.

I downloaded torrent files for episodes of Sword Art Online.
The videos were in .mkv format, and I have already searched the entire forum, read related topics, applied possible solutions, but I still can't figure out how to stop the rewinding of the video from the very beginning.

The first video would last about 12 seconds before rewinding, and the rest lasts for about 7 seconds before rewinding.

Any news on this, as the articles I've read aren't that updated.

Thanks.

Update your vlc... this sounds like an ordered chapter issue which has been fixed since 2.0.0

My VLC is up to date (should be 2.0.5).

That's why I'm asking if there is anything I could've missed.

Open VLC (just vlc not the video), open tools->messages, set verbosity to 2 then open the video, wait for the loop then paste the complete logs here or on the pastebin-like you want.

That's not a loop but an end of file, this sometimes happen when a file is corrupted and vlc doesn't handle it.
Could you try with a 2.0.6 nightly build on http://nightlies.videolan.org ? (Disregard the warning it's almost out) there have been improvement for that. If it doesn't work I'll get the file to debug but I'm still interested in the verbose logs for this version.

That was great.
The nightly build played it smoothly (although I only played the first video, I'll let you all know what happens with the other videos).

I have a theory that it may be because the file is still downloading (haven't finished the full download yet), but nevertheless, the nightly build was awesome.

Ah then that's surely the case since torrents don't download pieces in order and vlc doesn't wait completeness to start playing.
