It works, at least partly.

So far I have seen only some extras, have to find a way to see the actual movie too. And start up of the movie is a bit slow. I springled those two files everywhere, but Arites christmas peresent seems to have helped. He posted it on 24.12. This is Windows 7, I wish this would work in XP too.

Edit: Besides, there is two windows on the screen, the first, large is the actual movie and the other small is empty called VLC(Direct3D output)

I had the exact same issues you guys are describing. Turns out I had downloaded the incorrect libaacs.dll. Make sure you have the correct libaacs.dll:

Go to http://vlc-aacs.whoknowsmy.name/
Check the install directory of your VLC.

If the directory is: "c:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC" you need to download the 64bit dll.
If the directory is: "c:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC" you need to download the 32bit dll.

I am now able to play Blu Rays with no problem. Hope this helps!
This totally fixed my problem. I had the 32-bit version of VLC but had installed the 64-bit version of libaacs.dll.
Thanks SavageMutt! I hope this helps others.

Try a nightly build of 2.1.x (be sure to put libaacs.dll in the same directory as that vlc.exe too) from here:
http://nightlies.videolan.org/

It has better handling of multiple video tracks.

Thank you.
I downloaded vlc-2.1.0-git-20121230-0002-win32 (exe) and there is only one window, but video is not good now. It runs unevenly and there are all kinds of problems on the screen.

Alright, so I went to http://vlc-bluray.whoknowsmy.name/ and... I can't find %appdata%/aacs. It just isn't there. Now I'm not good at poking around in the inner files of my computer, so maybe that's why I can't find it, but... Yeah. I do know how to get into appdata though. Also, when it says to put the aacs library into VLC's directory, does that just mean put it into it's file? I am stuck and would really appreciate help.

*EDIT* Ok, so I read back a few pages and found something about CREATING the aacs folder. Did so, put the appropriate file in it and... Still not working. Might still be due to the aacs library being in the wrong spot. Help is appreciated still!!!

I've tried this on a Win 7 32-bit and Win 7 64-bit setup following the instructions..
Both give the same error:

"Blu-Ray error:
No valid processing key found in AACS config file."

I have the Keys Database file that was updated 4/20/2012 from the vlc-aacs.whoknowsmy.name site.
Is there a newer KEYDB.cfg file out there?

Ah yes - I had an issue with the latest one too, presumably a Windows regression(?). Try an older nightly build. This one worked fine for me:

You may have already done this (and I posted on previous page) - however one method is: Press "Windows Key + R". That should bring the "Run" dialog up. Type %appdata% into there and press enter. That should take you to the correct application data folder. If an aacs folder isn't there, create one, then put KEYDB.cfg in that.

That method helped, I got "C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming" but here it was not enough. I had to put those files into the C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\vlc directory. Now it works. I have Windows 7 ultimate 32b OS. It looks like Microsoft is so very very eager to help that they managed to make things harder. That is, every Windows version is different.

I think the problem might be that when you install the experimental version for Windows 7 64 bit, it automatically tries to install it to your Program Files instead of Program Files (x86)

Worked for me anyway

Cheers

I'm having the same problem as jeffry on page 7.

After following the directions as best as I can tell, The disk seems to load... kind of.

I see the 2hour, 6 minute duration, but nothing else happens. The media window just remains showing the vlc icon. no sound, no video, the progress bar stays at 00.00.

When I go to look at the aacs directory, a vuk folder has appeared with a file in it (long name)

Have win7 x64
using latest vlc x64 experimental version (also tried 2.0.2 for x64 and various 32 bit versions)
added the KEYDB.cfg file in myusername\appdata\roaming\aacs
added the 64 bit version of libaacs.dll into C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC
made sure to check "no title menu" for blu-ray then press play

Here is my log file:

Thanks for your quick reply. The one long title appears to already be selected. I can select others and re-select the long one... no effect.

I have VLC 2.0.5 and i tried to play blu-ray disk that i just got yesterday. I did the steps mentioned here http://vlc-bluray.whoknowsmy.name/ and i have those things in correct places. However, VLC gives me an error: No valid processing key found in AACS config file. Is there a newer config somewhere?

I come bearing good tidings: I've found a solution!

I've only tried it with VLC 2.0.2 Twoflower 32-bit, and I did the following. I have no idea how much of this is garbage and how much actually worked, but here it is for posterity's sake; someone more well-versed in VLC than me can sort it out.

Everywhere I put libaccs.dll, I put KEYDB.cfg as well, and vice versa. I put them in the main directories of the locations mentioned (AppData, AppData\Roaming, Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC), and then made a folder titled aacs in each location and put the files in there as well.

The next, most important part of the trick is in the Open Disk dialog box. In the Starting Position option, bump it up to 1 (from its default at 0). This will start you watching through the individual files on the disk. This can be tedious, and is in fact incredibly annoying if your Blu-ray player is not the default drive (says the voice of experience), but it'll play the files, and that's more than your $70+ investment would do before.

I have no idea if the following is correct, or even logical, but it's what I came to understand from a few hours of cursory research, and it helped me get the solution above. From what I can tell, the AACS system is basically a mini-OS written in Java that boots from the disk every time you put it into a drive. If your key isn't valid, it aborts the boot, and you can't normally access the disk. In essence, it's a bureaucrat as a disk menu. So I figured that instead of trying to open the first file on the disk, I'd go for the second one (logically, the next one to be opened after the keycheck, since they're named numerically and sequentially). The first few times you try this you may end up with garbage (I got a signal test screen on my first try), but eventually you'll get the material you actually cared about when you loaded the disk.

Another note: hitting "next media in the play list" (fast-forward button) may get you through some of the material, but it may also get you stuck in a loop of bonus features or other stuff you may not want to watch. If that happens, go back to the Open Disk dialog and manually enter the next title that you wanted to see.

Hope this helps!

..::EDIT::..
Hitting the Show Playlist button takes the hassle out of going back to the Open Disk menu every time you see something other than what you wanted.

Solved this "for windows 64 bit use the 32 bit DLL"

I that trick on this page
http://windows7themes.net/playing-blu-r ... y-bds.html

and the KEYS go inside the ROAMING folder (windows explorer type "%appdata")

Hope you find it usefull

This is why so many people cannot be bothered paying for legal BDs/DVDs any more. I cannot get my expensive new BBC Wonders Collection BluRay to play, so will end up watching it on a cracked copy somewhere. Excessive DRM controls just encourage piracy cos the pirates are the only ones who know how to play & copy them! Senseless.

If you tried the Windows 64 bit version of the AACS Library File and received the same error, try the 32 bit version file instead, it worked for me just now.

I'm about to make everyone's day...

There's a subtle note about this "experimental" AACS decoder library. It currently does not support titles. This simply means that, after you installed the two files to the proper locations mentioned at http://vlc-bluray.whoknowsmy.name, when you pick your drive to play of course pick the Bluray option but also BE SURE to check the "No disc menus" option. The Blu-ray will now play properly but it will default to Title 0 or the another main Title. Within VLC simply right-click --> Playback --> Title and pick the largest length Title since that is most likely the main movie. The other Titles will be the disc extras, previews, etc.

You made my day. :)
