Video stops playing at a specific point

Postby frankthetank3 » 07 Jan 2013 06:08

I got to a certain point in lord of the rings and the movie stopped playing and vlc closed it. Tried to play the video on my laptop and same problem at the same time point. Thought it was the file ( that is in full 1080p ) but then i watched bored to death and the very last episode same thing happened again both on my desktop and laptop. Thats when i noticed it wasent the files it was the player. Used windows media player and at the point vlc stopped playing it the video got distorted for a few seconds but continued on with no further issues.

Same Error on both my desktop and Laptop when playing the show :

Your file may be corrupted and vlc doesn't know how to recover. You should try a nightly build. There is already a fix that may help vlc to behave more correctly http://nightlies.videolan.org.

Nighty build dident work, it could be the file but windows media player was able to play past it which makes me think it could be the player, but at the same time plex couldent play it either

With the same EOF error? As I said the symptom is quite similar to a broken file. The nightly build should show you additionnal traces in that case.
I can see another possible case of error but without the file it will be hard to test.
