some files not playing

downloaded a show all in mkv and the first like 20 files dont play but then some random ones play after that not sure what the problem is, same with some other ones i have downloaded but when i go to other ones ive downloaded in past they play fine, ive downloaded from 2 different computers but i only play all the files on my computer ive had no problems from the sites where i downloaded the stuff from before

Try another video output module:

And/or disable/enable GPU acceleration:

And/or adjust FFmpeg threads:

You can also try to enable or disable some video options such as Overlay and/or Hardware YUV -> RGB conversions.

Can you show us verbose logs of files that don't work?

Tools->Messages set verbosity to 2 then start playback
