mkv movies

Postby Easina » 16 Nov 2012 15:01

Hi everybody ,

Iam german so if i write something wrong and stuff like that iam sorry ^^

The problem is :
The VLC media player 2.0.4 dont play the mkv movie . Audio is fine but the video is black with the logo .

I looked in google in this forum (page 1 to 3) and read the faq .

Solution i tried :
-the ffmpeg threads is set already to 1 . set it to 2 or 4 dont help
-i tried all video outputs
-the graphic acceleration was on and off
-uninstall vlc and install it again
-graphic and audio drivers are up to date
-some stuff i dont remember

My system information :
-Windows Vista Business 64 bit SP2
-4 gb ram (dont know details)
-Intel Core Duo 2,2 ghz
-Intel 4 Express Chipset Famaly 128 mb
-directx 11

would like to keep the vlc media player ^^ good stuff .

Thanks for helping ;)

with friendly greetings Easina

We need a sample of the original file.
Cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=57724&p=193335#p193335
50 MB max should be enough.

And then upload it to either http://streams.videolan.org/upload/ or to EmbedUpload.com, the latter will upload the file for you to several other hosts and then post the link to the file here.

Re: mkv movies

Postby Easina » 22 Nov 2012 23:55

with the windows media player i get :
-bad video
-no audio
-the length from the movie is in only 33 minutes something

with the vlc player :
-no video
-nice audio
-the length from the movie about 43 min 54 sec .

the file size is 4,24 gb if its necessary for something . i dont know why both players show a different time for the same movie .

This looks like a DRM'd file with a scrambled video track

Does any player actually read this?
MPLayer is showing only the bottom half of the image but MPC-HC is playing it when using its internal built-in filters.

This looks like a DRM'd file with a scrambled video track
No it's not.
The playback is choppy though, with some random pixelisation.

And this error appeared when trying to remux the file after extracting the streams in the first place:

Code: Select all

Error: Found B frame without second reference in a non closed GOP. Fix the MPEG2 video stream before attempting to multiplex it.
So either the binary cut has done this or the video stream is damaged.
Make sure to post a sample including the very beginning of the original file.
