Win7 and Apple Wireless Keyboard: How to use multimedia keys

I'm using an Apple Wireless Keyboard A1255 under Win 7 64bit. There's a driver for that keyboard. The keyboard works fine and e.g. the multimedia keys work in iTunes.
I tried to bind a multimedia key in "Extras > Preferences > Hotkey". But there's no reaction, when I press a multimedia key.

Is there any way to use the multimedia keys with VLC?
