Opening Dvds takes ages with Vlc!

Postby kimiraikkonen » 01 Oct 2012 19:12

Hi Guys,
I have a few genuine brand-new Dvd-movie discs. But when i try to open them with Vlc, most of them are opened after 5 minutes of buffering whereas Wmp 12 opens them just fine and instantly!

What is the reason? The default caching duration is set to 300 ms, should i change it?

It's not a read problem, but a notebook dvd-rw drive and relatively slower than desktop ones, but as i said that's not the issue and Wmp 12 opens instantly!

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Try to deactivate menus when playing.

Didn't work even with menus disabled (dvdsimple).

I saw exactly same problem on this forum posted a year ago and on other forums, mentioning the same hugely slow dvd loading problem with no solid answer.

Other players open just fine and very quickly.

Any ideas?

I have the same problem. I have fast hardware, and the bundled software has no trouble. Using VLC, trying to load takes forever. If I want to skip forward or backward the video freezes and, after a couple minutes, sends me back to the menu screen. Unusable.
