It is the last opened folder.

Hi Jean-Baptiste,

I'm fond of VLC, use it a lot but ... that default folder is the one and enormous annoyance!
When I open VLC after my weekly PC clean-up, it takes me ten clicks or so to get back to my own personal .mp3-location.
I'm quit ignorant on program settings so I couldn't find the proper option in VLC.

Anyhow: your reply is in no way an answer to the question posed.
Coral wants to set a DEFAULT FOLDER (like me).
Your response "It is the last opened folder."

So the question remains: how to train VLC to open my D:\Data\Sound\MP3-folder ...
I'm willing to invoke startup parameters of registry setting.

The last folder is stored in %appdata%/vlc/vlc-qt-interface.ini

Hi Jean-Baptiste,

Thanks for reply but ... it didn't solve the 'problem'.

I'v found %appdata%\vlc\vlc-qt-interface.ini but nothing indicated a default folder. At least not for an amateur.

So the question is still open.

Hi there,

Much obliged by your attention.

And I gave it a try but ... VLC seems to ignore, even to remove the setting!
I inserted:
filedialog-path=D:\Data\Progs\Geluid
and also
filedialog-path="D:\Data\Progs\Geluid"

What's next ;-).

Frans
Kind regards, Frans
