Error when playing MKV Files.

Postby Nickt15 » 04 Aug 2012 10:44

Hello!!

I've been using VLC for sometime now and i gotta say i love the program! I've never had any issues until today..

I loaded up a MKV file (Lord of the Rings) and 1:30 sec into the movie and the program crashed giving the following error:

Code: Select all

Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: vlc.exe Application Version: 2.0.3.0 Application Timestamp: 5007ce85 Fault Module Name: libmkv_plugin.dll Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 5007ce87 Exception Code: 40000015 Exception Offset: 0007b8b1 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 44c9 Additional Information 2: 44c946ff700bb44eda4f3a1cdfe9ce9e Additional Information 3: 7c8d Additional Information 4: 7c8d8da046f480db7b0110a0d992a7d0 Read our privacy statement online: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=104288&clcid=0x0409 If the online privacy statement is not available, please read our privacy statement offline: C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txt

I went ahead and made sure i had the latest version of C++ and for what i see everything seems to be up-to-date on my end..

Does anybody have any information on what might be causing this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.

Also upload a short sample of a problematic file to either http://streams.videolan.org/upload/ or to MirrorCreator.com or to EmbedUpload.com, so it will upload the file for you to several other hosts, and then post the link to the file here.

Hello Lotesdelere,

Here is the link to the debug from VLC..

http://pastebin.com/fFCjAMXQ

The time frame of the error is around 1:39 sec and at the time this is what the debug shows:

Code: Select all

dts debug: emulated sync word (no sync on following frame): 22222222 dts debug: emulated sync word (no sync on following frame): a0206b30
I'm gonna try to find something online to edit this video since i dont have anything online and ill have the sample uploaded shortly.

Thanks for taking the time to help me with this! :)

I cant edit it..

No matter what point i set it wont go past 1:38sec..

It has to be the video itself, i think.

Or at least a part of the file. The first 10 or 20 MB should be enough if the crash happens at 1:30
