VLan hangs after sometime while watching multicast channel.

Postby goldiegill2003 » 08 Aug 2005 11:31

I watch multicast channels with the help of VLan player. The problem is that, after showing a multicast channel for 20 to 30 seconds, the picture freezes and we have either to change the channel or stop and play the same channel to continue watching. It works fine if I watch the same channel on a TV through a set top box. What can be the problem???

sounds like an invalid PCR from the server, but could be a lot of things. debug messages from the messages log would certainly be needed to make sure.
Don't use PMs for support questions.

There are no error messages. While am watching any channel in VLC player on my PC, it just freezes after 20 to 30 seconds. And we have to change the channel from the playlist or stop/play the same channel to continue. While channels from the same multicast source work fine when i watch them on TV with the help of a set top box.

There are debug/error message.
Depending your OS and if you are using the GUI or command line, use :

Code: Select all

vlc -vvv --color
or go in the preferences/interfaces/general and set the verbosity to 2 and then open view/messages before launching the stream
