How to make VLC work on a system with multiple NICs.

Postby goldiegill2003 » 05 Aug 2005 09:46

I have a system which has 4 NICs each 1000 mbps. I am currently using 3 out of them. 2 of the 3 used are on same subnet with IP 97.208.32.* and 1 is on another subnet with IP 192.168.0.*. Live feed is available only on 192.168.0.* network. So if I try to play a network multicast stream by VLC it does not work until I disable the 97.208.32.* network NICs. Can anyone help???

yea, was just checkin..

have to wait for one of the dev's to check in.. they'll be able to handle it..

I think the fact of the multiple netmasks is the issue, maybe there's a way to specify that within each device definition..

The ipv4 module has this option:
--miface-addr

However the proper way to do this was to fix the routing table in windows so that it will use the proper interface for the class D mcast range.
Don't use PMs for support questions.
