VLC 2.0.1 not playing wmv files!

Hi,
I'm switching from WMP on Windows 7 x64 as I found VLC more convenient and nicer to use but I felt very sad when I found out that it is only playing the audio of wmv files but not the video while spitting this error message in front of my face:

No suitable decoder module:
VLC does not support the audio or video format "MSS2". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this.

I can't stress enough on the fact that these wmv files are totally OK files and they play very well inside WMP but it's very teasing to use WMP just to play WMV files (and they are plenty on my HDD). Something must be wrong and I wish I know what is the fix for that please.

The wmv files with MSS2 video codec...
I can play them with mPlayer using the "all-20110131" binary w32codecs.

They won't play for me with VLC though, even if I use "--codec dmo".
Maybe, this could be fixed by a developer.

But I don't think there's much chance for 64 bit VLC.
AFAIK the 64 bit codecs for mPlayer don't include MSS2.

It's really a big shame to use another player just to play one type of file not working in VLC. The developers @ VLC must do something about it and I'm quite sure they can because WMV is a very popular file extension and when I want to use VLC, it means I want to use it universally with ALL video file types and I really don't wanna go back to any other program because I started loving using it and it's not convenient at all to use two programs for the same purporse. I just wanna stick with VLC and only VLC. Will the developers disappoint me?!

Is there any work on this issue right now for the next version out to play WMV files properly or it's not an important thing for the developers? If no body cares about it, then I regrettably will have to quit using VLC as WMV files are very important to me and they are plenty on my hard drive. If there's any hope in a future version, then I can wait. Just let me know if I can wait or my wait will be forever
