Ok, after searching a bit I found this link:

That build didnt't work.
BUT, I tried the highly unstable 2.1.0 nightly from here:
http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win ... 0607-0003/ and that one works
So somewhere between those builds you must have changed something that solved the problem...
I hope there will be a stable version of VLC 2.1.0 soon. Do you have an eta for when it will be released?

I have done some research for you. I have tested some nightly builds to find out where the problem was solved, so you can have a better look at what caused it. Here are the versions that contain the difference. I added some relevant debugger information to each version.
