VLC 2.0.1 Audio Problem

The For the past few days I've been experiencing an audio stutter whenever I play music or videos. It happens at different intervals depending on the type of media used. The audio is fine for a bit then it stutters, and goes back to normal. Is there a fix for this? Its very annoying to hear the audio get messed up every minute or so. Thanks

I have same/similar problem with several mp3s (80s disco, heavy metal, etc), changing output module from default (apparently waveout) to directx solved that problem but also dropped music's soundvolume compared to default (soundvolume is still set to 200%). Also midi-files soundvolume dropped.

I don't have an overclocked CPU. I've tried all the output functions and I still get the same problem.

I'm having the same issue. Previous versions of VLC worked flawlessly, but I get no audio output at all with version 2.0.1. I've tried using different output modules to no avail. In the messages window I get:

Update: I experienced the same issue with the experimental 64 bit version of VLS 2.0.1; downgrading to 2.0.0 solved the issue. Definitely a problem with 2.0.1.

Can you try the latest nightly build ? Where VLC 2.0.0 is in fact 2.0.2:

If it still doesn't help then you can also try to:

- Not to use a volume over 100%

- Disable time stretching in the audio preferences
Menu Tools -> Preferences -> Audio

- Force the number of FFmpeg threads to 4 or 2 or even 1
Menu Tools -> Preferences (Show Settings = ALL) -> Input/Codecs -> Video Codecs -> FFmpeg

- Use a faster resampler by setting the Sample Rate Converter type to Zero Holder Hold
Menu Tools -> Preferences (Show Settings = ALL) -> Audio -> SRC Resampler


After the changes save the preferences then exit and restart VLC.
And please be kind enough to report us what worked and what had no effect for you.

VLC 2.0.0 upwards is causing this problem for me, tried the fixes but nothing works, I get audio glitches/drop outs at least once every couple of seconds. I've had to fall back to 1.1.9

I'm having the same problem. I was using VLC 1.1.11 (I think) for Pandora in Google Chrome on Windows 7 32 bit on a Dell Inspiron 530. I'm also using the VLC video player by itself with the same error on the same system. I updated to the latest version of VLC and have the same problem. This makes me think the stuttering audio error might not be VLC's fault.

Has a solution or work around been found yet? Thanks.
