Help: Media skips

Postby alexleyva » 09 May 2012 01:02

The subject accurately describes my problem - videos, streaming content, and audio skips on playback. The effect is similar to the way a scratched CD plays in the CD player.

Does anyone know why this could be happening and how I could fix?

thanks

Try another audio output module:
http://wiki.videolan.org/WindowsFAQ-2.0 ... _anomalies

If it still doesn't help then open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.

Also upload a short sample of a problematic file to either http://streams.videolan.org/upload/ or to MirrorCreator.com or to EmbedUpload.com, so it will upload the file for you to several other hosts, and then post the link to the file here.

The exact same happened to me with 2.0.1. I've been using VLC for years without issue before this. I didn't change any settings before uninstalling 1.1.9 (and kept my user settings), but after installing 2.0.1 this stuttering occured. In everything. Happens every 5 seconds or so -like a CD skip as alexleyva said.

I tried changing the audio to each setting available, but it made no difference. I used Media Play Classic for a few days to avoid the issue (still trying various things here & there in vlc of course), but eventually had to return to 1.1.9. Same settings/ no issue in 1.1.9.

I'm happy with 1.1.9 so I'll likely stick with that for the time being.
