Bypass Proxy in VLC

Hi all

We use a proxy server configured in Internet Explorer to access the internet. VLC has now a problem when we like to connect to streams in the local network.
When I disable the proxy in Internet Explorer, I can connect to the streams in the local network. But then we have no Internet connection with Internet Explorer. I work in a school enviroment and all users need the Internet Explorer.

How can I configure VLC to not use the proxy (as configured in Internet Explorer)?

It will be fixed in VLC 2.0.2, meanwhile you can use a nightly build (vlc-2.0.0-xxxxxxxx-xxxx is v2.0.2).

Sound great! I tested vlc-2.0.0-20120508-0204 and vlc-2.1.0-git-20120509-0008-win32.exe. But I see no option to "not use" the IE Proxy settings.

AFAIK it was command-line only option at patch, called http-system-proxy

There is no specific option, just don't set any proxy in the HTTP(S) and/or MMS access modules.

Great it works! I configured a Proxy in IE to some random IP Address. Then the IE Internet connection does not work. But the VLC can play Internet Streams.

We can then finally install VLC in the school when the final is out. Thank you very much!

Does anyone have an update on Trac ticket 5782. I am trying to get VLC to play Youtube videos using VLC. We use a Proxy that you have to authenicate against. using http://username:password@proxy:port doesnt work.

Thanks for the reply.

I have tried downloading one of the nightly files, I am still struggling to get VLC to work behind my corporate proxy.

From checking messages, i get the following output:

access_http error: error: HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden ( The ISA Server denied the specified Uniform Resource Locator (URL). )

Not proxy.port but proxy:port
