VLC 2.0.1 uses IE-‚Socksproxy’-entries by default ?

Postby tomok10 » 14 Apr 2012 08:17

IE 7 (XP SP3) saves its own ‚socksproxy’ -entries (e.g. 127.0.0.1:5678) inside the registry.
Subsequently my VLC 2.0.1 (without any ‚socks’-entries) no longer opens existing URL-streams
and comes back with an error message:

(from ‚logger’):
- main access error: cannot resolve socks=127.0.0.1 port=5678
- access_http access error: cannot connect to socks=127.0.0.1:5678

My annoying workaround:
open IE 7 -> disable ‚proxy’ (no need to delete the entries) -> close IE 7

What am I doing wrong?

This is a known annoyance which will be fixed in VLC 2.0.2, and already is in the nightly builds.

Affirmative !
Now I'm running '2.1.0-git-20120415-0008 Rincewind' with no more problems. :-)
Thank you very much.
