CAN VLC 2.0.1 BE INSTALLED OVER THE 1.1.11 VERSION

Postby mysoul » 25 Mar 2012 19:02

W.7 HOME PREMİUM 64-BİT

Hi,

I have the VLC 1.1.11 version installed.

What is BEST practice:

Install over the old version,

OR uninstall and ınstall the new version clean ?

Thank you

i use install over & I untick delete preferences & cache - otherwise I lose all my customised controls

seems OK but NB the installer does not use previously set file assocations & will associate to everything unless you tweak during the install.

I too would like to know the official answer, if there is one, & the official best practice for preserving hotkeys, customised interface etc

ideally, there should be an option to delete prev. version but to save all user preferences & re-apply those automatically. users should not have to mess with copy / paste of obscure files in hidden windows folders

If you start VLC installer, it will automatically uninstall older version.

And please, less CAPS LOCK next time.

''And please, less CAPS LOCK next time.''

You mean titles to posts in caps lock are not acceptable?

no - what it actualyl does is ASK you if you want it to remove the previous version or not - hence the original IN CAPS question - should the answer to that be yes, or no. bear in mind that YES will destroy all your hot key & screen interface customisations.

I meant, don't use CAPS LOCK when you post here. It won't help at all.
