how to make chat text subtitles

how do you display chat text inside vlc mediaplayer?
like irc has logs and vlc gets subtitles from a file,
so if vlc takes text that appears in the log or chat,
can it be displayed as subtitles on screen in vlc?

Marquee filter might work if you can paste the text to command-line

Subtitles would require timecode related info.

wanna do this for a stream in real time with irc.

Then you have to modify existing filter, or script the RC interface.
