Seek random jumps in DVB MPG records

Postby Dreamer » 25 Feb 2012 23:07

When seeking, using medium forward jump with the shortcut position is changing incorrectly, sometimes the video stops (probably reached the end even if I was on 30% only). It jumps from 10m30s correctly to 11m30s, then to 2m30s and so on...

The current time is jumping between 1-8 min all the time.

MPG file is a record from DVB card, MPEG2 SD file.

It was OK in previous 1.x versions, it looks it's broken in v2.0.0. :( It works good in MPC.

Did you remux the MPEG as MPEG-PS or is it still MPEG-TS?

Hm.. It's just recorded, so probably MPEG-TS.

Usually I just record, watch and delete these files - and sometimes I start watching the file while it's still recording, so I can't remux this file.

All these files are working perfect in MPC, VLC 1.x and many other players, in VLC 2.0.0 the time is jumping insanely, seeking is completely broken, +1min sometimes rewind the file -10min, or +1min stops playing...

I hope this will be fixed, because I really don't want to downgrade to 1.x, I like this new version. :(

Hm.. this is not so easy, here are my results of the 3 day testing:

1st day: All files have broken seeking, time is jumping all the time.

2nd day: Most files have broken seeking, time is jumping, but the files which are still recording (not closed) are OK (seek, time), just one file has broken seeking and time one time, then it was OK - all this while recording.

3rf day: All files are OK - seek and time.

This is really strange, because I have not changed any option in VLC and I have not changed the files. :o

The files are too big to upload (from 5-10GB), but I'm still testing and I'll report any changes and try to upload the file.

What do you mean, HW or SW - windows updates?

The answer for HW is no, for SW - Windows updates are set to auto.

I still don't understand why it was broken and suddenly it works good. Anyway, still testing...

You can cut small samples from non working files.

Thanks, I tried, but that file is OK (I mean seeking and time), or do you think it would help though?

I tried to cut it in AviDemux earlier with the same results.

It is easier to replicate with non-working file.

So today I've got several broken files.

I tried to run one file which is still recording about 5 times and sometimes it's OK, sometimes broken (the same file).

I could upload one whole broken file, 499MB, would you download it to test? Is it worth to upload? Where I should upload it?

http://streams.videolan.org/upload/ or use some filesharing service, like zshare

Done, but I don't have a link. The file name is "TA3 Pe a enka 20120229_164015 #1.mpg". I have included link to this topic in description.
