The issue is ONLY with nVidia and DxVA!

Can you file a bugreport, please?

hmmm
i use this driver too (tried older version too)
with gtx 260

with vlc version
vlc-1.3.0-git-20111222-0002-win32
and older it worked

since version
vlc-1.3.0-git-20111222-0628-win32
it is broken

so there must be a change/bug in source code

oki

hmmm
i force vsync in nvidia driver
to prevent gfx inductor noise during games
i wonder if this could be the problem....

edit: nop thats not the problem

hmmm may be its best to compare source code of
2.0 final with
vlc-1.3.0-git-20111222-0002-win32 (last working version)

and see if there was a change in mp4 decoding and if yes
just replace 2.0 final mp4 code parts with code from vlc-1.3.0-git-20111222-0002-win32

This means it is a probable change of code from libavcodec that broke it.
Please trac it.

ok done

i 'll create a trac for the cue/flac compression bug and for the visualisation audio stutter bug too

i heard that vlc was 1st designed for linux only
may be it would be better to create a new vlc from scratch for windows....

hmmm or i should try linux and see if vlc runs better with it :D
