v2.0.0 Bug Report: Media > Open Disc does not open DVD

Media > Open Disc can open a DVD folder on old v1.1.9. This feature has been broken from versions 1.1.10 to 2.0.0 Final.

When fixing this, please consider giving us the option to have VLC also remember the last opened folder even if the program is restarted.

It works when opening actual DVD discs.

It does not work when opening DVD folders on the hard drive.

Can you please post the name of the log file so I can do a search for it on the system.

I did further experimenting and discovered that when you actually browse to the folder, it works.
It does not work if you only PASTE the location of the file and click on Play. So first CLOSE VLC 2.0.0 then Open it again, then Media > Open Disc > then right click PASTE folder location (for example)
C:\DVD\VIDEO_TS
then click on Play.

You get this error:

Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvd:///G:/'. Check the log for details.

It is trying to open the G:\ drive which is the DVD drive.

Thank you for your reply Jean-Baptiste. Here's why not everyone can paste: If you are editing a DVD deep inside multiple subdirectories,

C:\Then\they\would\have\to\make\more\than\twenty\clicks\just\to\browse\and\then\open\a\folder\on\the\hard\drive\location\deep\inside\multiple\directories


In Version 1.1.9 you simply paste the location of a folder. You cannot do that in any version since 1.1.9. Won't you please see if you can re-enable this feature again?

Then paste on the Ctrl+V dialog with dvd:/// prepended.

Very weird issue happening only on Win32.
