gfx bugs in 2.x with mp4 files

hi

with latest 2.0 and 2.1 versions there are some gfx bugs with mp4 files
in the bottom of the screen the video is flashing

the bug happens only with gpu acceleration
(i have a nvidia gtx 260 with latest drivers)


all other files are ok

Does Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) complain something during playback?

I have the same problems with my original 24 Seasion DVD 1.
When the option "Use GPU accelerated decoding" is active the gfx bugs appears.
I use an Nvidia Geforce 460GTX with the driver 290.53 (beta).
Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit. CPU i7-2600 3,4GHz.

Larix: you watch MP4 video or MPEG-2 video? One MPEG-2 HW decoding issue should be fixed in upcoming builds.

MPEG 2 -> DVD. Should the bug fixed in nightly build? I will test the nightly build from 26.01.2012. :)

In the nightly build(VLC media player 2.0.0-rc1-20120126-0859 Twoflower) the bug is still there.

Well, sliced decoding of Mpeg2 with GPU decoding does not work, it seems. So I forced deactivated it.

I have not seen sliced VC-1 yet, so I do not know how will that behave.

yep with 1.1.x they play without a problem
and i am pretty sure with some early 1.2 / 1.3 / 2.x versions they played without errors too

seems to be a small bug
must have happened before 2.0 rc was released

i can try to find the latest working version
i remember there was a small wmv problem too in the past and finding the latest working nightly version took some time.....

after some research i found the latest version without the bug :-)

vlc-1.3.0-git-20111222-0002-win32
plays mp4 with gpu decoding without errors

from
vlc-1.3.0-git-20111222-0628-win32
up to latest 2.1 version
mp4 gpu decoding is broken

hope this info helps to solve it :-)

i am a bit surprised that 2.0 got released
some other bugs from nightly versions made it into final 2.0

w7 pro 64 bit

it happens not with all mp4 files
youtube rips seems to be ok

but all mp4 videos from
abbywinters and ifeelmyself show these errors
