VLC writes only int RAM, not on HDD

Hi everyone,

I am having a really annyoing problem: I am trying to capture from a Blackmagic Decklink Studio 2 card. The problem is that no stream is written into the specified file when I try to capture via command line, but VLC's RAM-usage grows and grows to somthing around 2 GB, then vlc crashes, leavin an empty file on the disk. If i klick STOP on the UI before it crashes, the file is written from RAM to disk just fine. With the record feature of the extended GUI this is different: VLC starts immediately to write into the file on the hard disk. What am I doing wrong?

The command line is the following:

I'm not sure the UYVY format will be correctly handled by either the mux or the packetizer you could try to transcode.

Good tip, thanks, but I have already thought of that, too, and tried it; result: the same, but when I klick stop, only audio is written to the file; so this works even worse.
However, I don't think the chroma is really the problem here: why does it work perfectly well when I use the record button from the advanced controls? And why is the file written perfectly well once I click stop on a GUI instance that I first called via commandline? I cannot seem to get where the problem really lies.
Isn't there any way to use the GUI record function via command line? The file access method doesn't seem to do exactly the same as the record button.
And one mor piece of info: my OS is Win 7 64bit. Maybe, that is part of the problem...

Have you tried huffYUV enncoding?

Not yet, I am currently not at the machine. When I get back to it I'll try. But I am not getting my hopes up, because yet another encoder (I have tried several) is a bit unlikely to make it work because the question remains: why the heck does it work with raw video when I use the record button in the GUI? The problem is not encoding: as I wrote, it also works for short sections when I klick stop after launchin from the command line. The real problem is that VLC writes into RAM until it crashes and not onto HDD as it should... really strange, I know.

it works because the record button transcode. If you only had audio then you have a problem in your transcoding chain.
