.ts files

I record from a digital tv receiver to a usb drive or flash drive. The files have a .ts extension but when i try to play the with vlc player they just won't play...any ideas?

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin if it's too long.

try open with this url format:
file/ts:///path/to/yourfile.ts

wont do anything..no matter how i try to open the file it does nothing...will open vlc player but all i get is a blank screen///btw where is the log file located?

The file I'm trying to play is ok cos it plays in Media player Classic...any ideas?

Yes did that...still nothing...when I try to open the file there is no response from VLC

Does tool called Mediainfo complain about Format profile : No PAT/PMT ?

Yes I've done that..it says:

MPEG-TS (No PAT/PMT) 978 MiB, 1h 9mn

Then VLC won't most likely open it.

You have to remux the file. IIRC tool called TsRemux might be able to remux it properly.

I have tried remuxing but when I play on VLC it plays a still picture...I did however (after trying loads of other freeware programmes) find this one that worked for me..it's called Free TS Converter.will convert to many different formats...and it worked .
