Two questions about viewing in fullscreen mode

Postby prr » 14 Nov 2011 23:40

(1) is there a way to get to view ONLY the fullscreen mode without either the menu bar or the playback tooblar? I have tried going into the preferences, and know that you can check the minimalist option, but that removes the playback toolbar all the time. I want the playback toolbar visible when in "normal" window mode, but not for fullscreen. How can I accomplish this?

(2) Is there a way to be able to click out of fullscreen mode, by moving the mouse? What I am used to is, in fullscreen mode, moving the mouse to the upper right corner, and seeing a box that I can click on that puts the media into the normal window mode. Can I do this with VLC?

I see that I can download skins. I'm open to doing this, although I would assume that using a skin would not affect anything in questions (1) and (2). Or would it? Would using a particular skin let me do either (1) or (2)?

1. You should be able to drag the toolbar away or Tools -> Preferences (Show settings: All) Interface -> Main interfaces -> Qt and Show a controller in fullscreen mode, or from command-line

Code: Select all

--qt-fs-controller, --no-qt-fs-controller Show a controller in fullscreen mode (default enabled) Show a controller in fullscreen mode (default enabled)
2. No.

Skins use different GUI engine than default QT4 one. But AFAIK 2. isn't possible with skins.

Thanks. I always thought the basic idea of fullscreen mode was to have nothing but video; I'm surprised this wasn't default but that's ok this was easily dealt with.

OK I can live with double-clicking to toggle in and out of fullscreen mode. I think I can get used to that.

Thanks again.

Now that I know I can use it its off to get it skinned. :D
